Preparing for My Journey
I'm trying to save money for the Europe trip. I'm looking for a job, but haven't had luck yet. I do have a little money coming in from outside sources for school. The way I see it, the less I spend on groceries, the more I can save for Europe. I've set a goal to spend less than $50 on groceries this month. This will mean a lot of "Doing without" for now, but it might make the difference of being able to go later.
I'm also working on an article of different ways I prepare Ramen this month.
I am going to Applebees with a friend I haven't seen in four years because I won't be able to go to her wedding, but I found a coupon in the mail for it! (I just love that!)
One thing I realized is that if I go to the store to buy milk cheaper, I end up buying snacks I don't need. For me, buying milk on campus for twenty cents more saves me dollars on food. Also drinking water will help me feel full without eating as much food. (I really don't like the taste of water, but the more you drink, the better it tastes.)
Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that eating less will help me lose weight (Go figure.) Which will make walking all over Europe easier.
I've also been preparing for Europe by taking the stairs every time instead of the elevator. The other day I had the thought, I'm young and healthy, there's no reason why I can't walk up 4 flights of stairs. Maybe I'll be winded, but one day I may not be able to do that, so I should take the opportunity now. So I did! (and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.)
Funny part is, this expereince is also helping me to associate with my parents. When I was little, there were eight kids in the house. My parents used to do a lot of things that I do now that bugged me to no end as a kid, because I didn't understand. I get it now.
